This is what happens when you neglect your garden for several days.... giant zucchini the size of wine bottles.
Actually, we have another one that is even bigger - we are letting it grow just to see how big it gets.

Completed Project - Dishcloth

I never thought I'd be knitting dishcloths. It just seemed so... old. But here I am, knitting away. I've made one, and plan on making several more because I was gifted a bunch of cotton yarn that I have no other use for, and it's fun to experiment with new stitch patterns.

Yup. I'm officially a grandma.

A Little Hint of Red

I know you guys are probably sick of pictures of vegetables... but I'm not!

Wilder Ranch

I feel like I'm always singing the praises of my beautiful town... and I'm going to keep doing it, cause it's amazing. I took a walk with some friends to Wilder Ranch State Park over the weekend, was amazed at how beautiful it is! I haven't visited this park since I was a child, but now that I've re-discovered it I want to come here all the time.

I love how in Santa Cruz you can go from gorgeous farmland to breathtaking ocean views in a matter of moments.

I love where I live!

A Friendly Reminder...

Spotted on my way home from work the other day

Zucchinis Everywhere!

Our garden has become a zucchini producing machine. Since we got our first one last week, there have been more and more ready every day.

On the 4th of July Quinten made a lovely plate of grilled garden veggies - zucchini, yellow squash and carrots, all homegrown! There are some store-bought asparagus (asparagusses? asparagi?) in there, but let's just ignore them, ok? It was super delicious...but even after picking all of the full grown zucchinis from the garden on Sunday, there were 3 more yesterday!

We also have our first baby cucumber... I love taking pictures of baby things, so here it is:
I love the little nubbins. So cute... hopefully it survives to maturity so I can eat it!

June Goals..Not Accomplished

As I have stated before, this blog is a testament to my lack of attention span and ability to complete things. I love to make big plans and never follow through with them. It's part of my charm, remember?

Well, here are the goals I set for myself in June:

  • Sand and paint my kitchen cabinet doors  Nope. I fail. Didn't even make an attempt at doing this...and to be honest, I probably never will
  • Redecorate my kitchen  If by redecorating I meant hanging up shelves, then yes!
  • Finish my Linen Stitch Scarf  Yes!
  • Re-arrange my living room  Hahahaa...who was I kidding?
  • Start and complete a new knitting project  Wow..I was feeling really ambitious at the beginning of the month. I started a new project...but it isn't anywhere near done. Does 25% count?
  • Keep my garden alive  So far, so good. I mean, I've only killed one tomato plant, and I'm not entirely sure it was my fault.

I'm not going to make a list of goals for July because I don't want to labor under any illusions that I will actually complete any of the things on the list. Sad, but true. At least I know myself!

Happy Fourth of July weekend, everyone!
